Several thousand unarmed residents gathered today on Freedom Square in the centre of Kherson. In their hands, civilians hold Ukrainian flags and posters with inscriptions «Kherson is Ukraine». People shout «Shame» to the occupiers. Instead, the occupiers fired into the air, trying to disperse the rally.

One of the participants of the action «Kherson is Ukraine» flew with the flag of Ukraine on the enemy armoured personnel carrier when the column of the Russian military equipment went through the city.

According to Ukrayinska Pravda, representatives of the Russian occupation forces in Kherson intend to block the patriotic event. They bring 60 representatives of the special forces unit and 10 members of the reserve forces to the Kherson Regional State Administration.

«The special forces unit will be dressed in a black uniform, which is similar to the uniforms of Ukrainian law enforcement officers, and they will be armed with traumatic weapons and gas canisters. In this way, Russian officials will try to prevent activists from entering the building of Kherson Regional State Administration,» – the statement reads.

We will add that in Kherson, in front of the building of the regional state administration, there stays Russian military equipment, the railway station and the seaport are temporarily under Russian control.

It will be recalled that in today’s address, President Volodymyr Zelensky called on Ukrainians who can defend their cities not to give up. In particular, he called on the civilian residents of Mariupol and Volnovakha to help defend their cities.
