In the Lviv region, the number of people looking for jobs has halved compared to last year. Vasyl Baryliuk, director of the Lviv Regional Employment Center, said this during the discussion in Tvoe Misto media hub.

«What is happening in our market? The number of people looking for work has halved compared to last year. That is, now there are 50% fewer people on the register who receive assistance,» – he said.

According to him, once a person was to be registered for a year because the Employment Center did not offer him a job in a narrow specialization. Now, a person is registered for a month, during that time they are looking for a job according to their qualifications, and if there is no such job, then any other one with a salary not lower than the minimum. This way, 100-150 people are removed from the register per day.

Vasyl Baryliuk added that it’s important that those who were forced to leave due to the full-scale invasion of Russia return from abroad. He says that there are two reasons why Ukrainians will return.

«People who are abroad will still return for two reasons: they have to go to work and pay for their accommodation. The second is that they have homes and families in Ukraine, the uncertainty is over, people have already adapted and are starting to return,» – he said.

Regarding employment, the director of the Employment Center mentions the program according to which the government should create 20,000 jobs for entrepreneurs by the end of the year and adds 150,000 hryvnias (for three years for one person) or 250,000 (for three years for two people). To receive money, you need to employ a person, and the return of funds to the budget occurs due to the payment of taxes by the people who were hired.

Another program Vasyl Barilyuk mentions is the creation of greenhouse farms. There will be 75 of them in Lviv Oblast. Funds will also be provided there on the condition that people are employed, and their return will be made similarly through taxes.

«The third program is the development of berry growing. 10 thousand hectares are under that program. From 150 to 400 thousand hryvnias are allocated per hectare for creation. That is, there is something to offer. The question is how people will respond,» he adds.

It will be recalled that, according to the UN, more than 7 million people have left Ukraine since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion, and only 2.5 have returned. Experts predict the second wave of migration, that another 5 million people may leave Ukraine. Former Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine, Pavlo Sheremeta, says that this is fatally high. Whether this situation is really critical, how we can change it and what challenges regarding the economy, employment and housing for refugees have appeared in the region and the country were discussed during the discussion in Tvoe Misto media hub.
