Poland is promoting a project to build a highway connecting the Polish border with Lviv, with the possibility of further extending the route deeper into Ukraine. Polish media began reporting on this at the end of March and April, and new reports appeared in early May from forsal.pl, Gazeta Wyborcza, RMF24, and others.
"Tvoe Misto" reached out to the Lviv Regional Military Administration and the Infrastructure Restoration and Development Agency in the Lviv and Kyiv regions at the end of April, but they reported having no information on the matter. We also requested details about this project from the Polish Consulate General in Lviv, but they likewise have no information. On April 29, the editorial office sent an official request to the Ministry for Communities and Territories Development, but the request was redirected to the State Agency for Infrastructure Restoration and Development of Ukraine, so "Tvoe Misto" is awaiting that response.
According to Polish media, the Industrial Development Agency of Poland is the initiator of the construction. The project envisions that funding, tender procedures, and implementation rules will be Polish, although the infrastructure will be built on Ukrainian territory.
"It should be a symbol," — stated the President of the Industrial Development Agency, Bartłomiej Babuśka.
According to him, the idea is to create a transport corridor that will change the economic and export geography of Europe. The first stage could be the construction of approximately an 80-kilometer section of the M10 road from the Krakovets–Korczowa checkpoint to Lviv.
The project is planned to be implemented under an intergovernmental agreement. The tender will be organized by the Polish side—according to national and European standards, which is expected to simplify the participation of Polish companies.

Funding could be provided by the Polish government or subordinate institutions, as well as European funds. It is expected that the road will be a toll road: costs will be compensated through a concession—tolls paid by drivers.
In March 2026, Bartłomiej Babuśka noted, that the agreement for Poland must be "meaningful" and that it is necessary to define in it the "maximum possible amount of benefits for the Polish economy."
According to Gazeta Wyborcza, the signing of the agreement is planned by the end of June 2026 — on the eve of the Ukraine Recovery Conference in Gdańsk.
It is noted that in the future the project could be expanded: the route—extended to Odesa, and a modern European-standard railway line built in parallel. This, according to the initiators' plan, will allow for the creation of a new export route to Middle Eastern markets.
By the way, in Poland on the A2 toll concession highway, on a section with a length of
255 km for passenger cars, the average price per kilometer is 0.54 PLN.
