Ukraine is initiating all relevant procedures within UNESCO and is engaging other international mechanisms, demanding an immediate and adequate response to the Russian strike on Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra. This was reported by reported Minister of Foreign Affairs Andriy Sybiga.
MFA's appeal to the international community
As reported by "Ukrinform," the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs wrote about the relevant step on Facebook. The minister called on foreign capitals and international institutions to respond to the aggressor country's actions without delay.
The head of the foreign affairs department noted that since the Horde in the 13th century to the Nazis and Bolsheviks in the 20th century, Kyiv's holy sites have already suffered numerous barbaric attacks.
Andriy Sybiga stated the need for decisive steps by international partners to stop Russia's actions.
Consequences of the massive attack on Kyiv
According to available information, four people died and 30 residents were injured as a result of the strikes in Kyiv. Among the injured are a child and a pregnant woman. Nine people were hospitalized, three of whom are in serious condition. Due to damaged power lines, about 140,000 subscribers in the northern part of the city were left without electricity.
In addition to residential buildings, destruction and fires were recorded at three cultural heritage sites in the capital during the night attack.
In Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra as a result of shelling, a fire broke out, and the fire damaged the roof of the Dormition Cathedral.A fire occurred on the territory of the Mystetskyi Arsenal, the cause of which, according to preliminary data, was a drone hit. On the territory of the Dovzhenko National Film Studio, a hit led to ignition and damage to the film studio's buildings. In the costume department, completely Ukraine's largest and oldest costume collection was destroyed,which numbered about 100,000 costumes and 3 million pieces of various clothing.
