Today, August 16, the funeral service for Yevhen Konovalets, the first head of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists, took place at the Patriarchal Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church in Kyiv. This was reported by the press service of the Lviv Regional Military Administration.
They add that a delegation from the Lviv region participated in the event – representatives of the Lviv Regional State Administration and the Lviv Regional Council, clergy, fellow villagers, the public, representatives of youth organizations, and people's deputies.

The coffin was delivered to the cathedral in an original Austin armored car from the era of the Ukrainian Revolution, which was restored by servicemen of the repair and restoration battalion of the corps. Near the church, Konovalets was met by a corridor of torches, servicemen of the Third Army Corps, and fighters of the Yevhen Konovalets Military School. On the first night after the figure's ashes returned to Ukraine, the Third Army Corps held a farewell ceremony in the Patriarchal Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ of the UGCC.

We remind you that to the Lviv region was brought a black granite cross from Yevhen Konovalets's grave in Rotterdam. It will be installed on the territory of the museum-estate in Zaszków – a few steps from the family home where the Leader was born on June 14, 1891.
Yevhen Konovalets (June 14, 1891 – May 23, 1938) was a prominent Ukrainian military and political figure, colonel of the UPR Army, commander of the Ukrainian Military Organization (UVO), and the first head of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN). He is one of the key ideologues of Ukrainian nationalism and a symbol of unity, as, being a Galician, he defended the Ukrainian People's Republic in Kyiv with weapons in hand.
The remains of Yevhen Konovalets, exhumed in Rotterdam on August 11, will be reburied in Kyiv, at the National Military Memorial Cemetery. Later, after the creation of the Ukrainian National Pantheon, this will be his final resting place.
