A falsified photo announcing an exhibition, which allegedly planned to display "a particle of relics" of Yevhen Konovalets, a fighter for Ukraine's independence, is being spread on social media and Russian Telegram channels. The provocative event was supposedly to take place on August 21 at the Hnat Khotkevych Lviv Palace of Culture.

As reported by the institution's director, Sofiya Lishchynska, this information is an absolute fabrication and enemy disinformation. The Palace of Culture is not organizing and has never planned such events.

The fake poster was created using graphic editors with the involvement of artificial intelligence tools.

The information leak appeared against the backdrop of official news about the future reburial of Yevhen Konovalets in Kyiv. Russian propaganda traditionally uses important commemorative events for Ukrainians to create manipulation, reported the Center for Countering Disinformation:

"The spread of this fake fits entirely into the usual tactics of Russian propaganda, which systematically uses resonant events and topics for informational manipulation. The goal of this fake is to discredit the Ukrainian authorities' decision to form a National Pantheon of outstanding Ukrainians, ridicule the process of honoring the memory of national heroes, and provoke internal conflicts within Ukrainian society."

Lviv residents are urged to be vigilant, not to fall for provocations, and to verify information only from official sources.

We remind you that the first head of the OUN, Yevhen Konovalets, died on May 23, 1938, in Rotterdam as a result of an assassination attempt organized by Soviet special services. On August 13, 2026, the remains of the Colonel of the UNR Army were returned to Ukraine from the Dutch cemetery "Krosewijk," and on August 18, they were reburied at the military cemetery near Kyiv.
