Ukraine has introduced a new package of sanctions against Russian enterprises, officials, collaborators, and individuals working for the Russian military-industrial complex. The creators and distributors of the popular Russian animated series "Masha and the Bear" have also been subjected to restrictions. The relevant decisions of the National Security and Defense Council were put into effect by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, signing four decrees.
One of the sanctions packages concerns 28 Russian citizens and 36 Russian and one Chinese company. Among them are enterprises that supply Russia with industrial equipment, electronics, components, and raw materials, including circumventing international restrictions.
Sanctions also affected companies that produce and repair military and special equipment, develop drones, and create software for Russian law enforcement agencies.
Separately, Ukraine imposed restrictions on five enterprises of the "RusAl" group and nine Russian citizensassociated with them. These are companies that produce aluminum for the Russian military-industrial complex. Their products are used, in particular, in the production of military equipment, missile and artillery weapons, and military aviation, circumventing international restrictions.
Another sanctions package covered 45 individuals and eight legal entities. Among them are high-ranking Russian officials who support the aggression against Ukraine, as well as collaborators and individuals cooperating with the Russian Federation in the temporarily occupied territories.
The list, in particular, includes former deputy from the "Party of Regions" Yuriy Ivanyushchenko. He is a suspect in a case concerning the legalization of land plots worth over 160 million hryvnias. The Office of the President also reported that enterprises associated with him operate in occupied Crimea, and Ivanyushchenko himself has repeatedly visited Russia since the full-scale invasion began.
Creators of "Masha and the Bear" fall under sanctions
Separately, Ukraine imposed sanctions on five Russians and four organizationsassociated with the creation and distribution of the animated series "Masha and the Bear".
In particular, restrictions were imposed on the studio "Animaccord", its founder, CEO, screenwriter, director, producer, co-creator of the series, and rights holder.
The Office of the President stated that the animated series spreads pro-Russian narratives under the guise of children's content and poses a threat to Ukraine's national security.
Ukraine plans to share information about the new sanctions with international partners so they can synchronize these restrictions in their jurisdictions.
We remind you that "Your City" has prepared a selection of Ukrainian and foreign animated films and series that can be watched on YouTube or on Ukrainian content streaming services.
