Nine more improvised explosive devices were found near a power substation and high-voltage lines in the Görlitz region in the east of the country. In total, their number has increased to 21. This is reported by Tagesschau.

Previously, cases of possible sabotage of energy infrastructure had already been recorded in Germany. In particular, similar explosive devices were found in the states of Brandenburg and North Rhine-Westphalia. According to Bild, a 49-year-old man from North Rhine-Westphalia claimed responsibility for several similar incidents. He allegedly sent a multi-page confession letter signed with his full name. It also contained mentions of alleged planned sabotage in Saxony.

The explosive devices were found during investigative actions near the town of Schläife. The police operation lasted throughout Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. According to preliminary conclusions of the investigators, the devices were designed to damage energy infrastructure and cause short circuits.

Law enforcement officers are currently establishing the circumstances of the incident and those involved in installing the explosive devices.

By the way, after an unsuccessful drone attack with explosives at Leipzig/Halle Airport, Germany plans to strengthen the protection of critical infrastructure against Russian sabotage and other hybrid attacks. According to the publication Bild, the German Ministry of Internal Affairs is preparing a comprehensive "shield" against Russian sabotage.
