More than 300 saplings are planned to be planted in Stryiskyi Park. Among them: maple, linden, pine, beech, hornbeam, bitter chestnut, thuja, Weigel, ornamental apple and pear trees. Some rare seedlings will appear there, namely tulip trees, hibiscus and magnolias. A special inhabitant of the place will be liquidambar – a tree not yet present in Lviv. This was announced by the Stryiskyi park’s director Olena Mazuryk.

The park was planted in the XIX century. If someone wants to give a tree to the park, he can apply to the park administration. As for now, seedlings of small-leaved linden, bitter chestnut, sycamore and decorative hairpins are especially needed.

The planting of trees in the park will last from October 20 to November 1. People are especially invited to join on Saturday, October 23, from 11.00. The meeting will take place at the entrance arch on the side of Parkova Street (contact person Ulyana 098 715 87 30).

Amber tree (liquidambar) is a large deciduous tree 25-40 m tall, with finger-lobed leaves, spirally arranged along the stem. The flowers are tiny and collected in dense globular inflorescences. The fruits contain numerous seeds. They are well visible in autumn – large balls with spines hanging on the branch for a long time, remaining on them even after leaf fall.

Trees can grow up to 40 meters. In autumn, they acquires a yellow-purple colour. In the summer months, the amber tree surprises with its decorative leaves, which look like maple.
