For the first time since 2005, the Ukrainian national futsal team has reached the decisive stage of the European Championship, held this year in the Netherlands, where Ukraine will face Russia, amid growing Western fears that Moscow might seek to invade Ukraine. Futsal, played on a hard court, is sort of a mini-football, played indoors.

The Ukrainians defeated Kazakhstan in the match of the quarterfinals of Euro-2022, thanks to which the best teams made their way into the top 4. Then – the semifinals, and then the final or match for third place.

As reported by Public. Sport, Ukraine’s opponent in the match for a ticket to the final will be the Russian national team and this will be the first meeting at the European Championships between these teams since 2005. Ukraine – Russia will be one of the most important matches of the year for Ukrainian sports.

Both Euro 2022 futsal semifinals (Ukraine-Russia and Portugal-Spain) will take place on Friday 4 February in Amsterdam. Until the determination of all semifinalists, the start time of the games remained unknown, and after the last quarterfinal UEFA announced the exact time.

The Ukraine-Russia futsal match will open the semifinal program. Time and time Ukraine – Russia – 18:00 on Friday, February 4. The winner Ukraine – Russia goes to the finals, and the losing team – in the match for third place.

We will add that on the way to the semifinals Russia won four of the four matches at Euro 2022, Ukraine – two of the four (two defeats in the group stage).
