Lviv authorities are considering two options to save on heating during the following winter, which some predict to be the most complicated in the history of Independent Ukraine. For example, the Cabinet of Ministers recommended universities to start the academic year on August 15 (with the exception of junior courses), in order to have longer vacations in winter and save money during the heating season.

«We are currently considering several options if there is an opportunity now – to buy the boilers, as well as the appropriate equipment, which will make it possible to use more electricity. Currently, Ukraine has a surplus of electricity, there is physically nowhere to send it due to the bottleneck of the possibility of transportation to the EU, plus heat pumps: we have already equipped a number of locations with them, and today, this is a global trend. This is how it looks now, that the temperature in Ukraine will be lowered, and now we will better understand the inhabitants of, for example, Great Britain, who wear sweaters at home in winter, and believe that this should be the case,» – says Lviv Mayor Andrii Sadovyi in a comment to Lviv Now.

As for calculating what the temperature will be, according to Andrii Sadovyi, it depends on many factors.

«Ukraine has enough of its own gas, but if there are any unforeseen situations, then there may be force majeure. Currently, we are working as usual, but we are predicting various dangers in advance and looking for options on how to be ready for them,» – he adds.
