As a result of massive Russian strikes in Ukraine, one-third of the country’s energy infrastructure was damaged. Ukrainians were urged to treat electricity consumption judiciously in the morning and in the evening. In particular, the state energy company «Ukrenergo» appealed to citizens and asked them to save electricity not only in the evening hours – from 5 pm to 11 pm, but also in the morning – from 8 am to 11 am.

«Now, the main reason for consumer restrictions is the need to reduce the load. «Ukrenergo» had little time to repair the equipment damaged by powerful missile fire. Therefore, the greater the consumption, the more restrictions will be applied,» – the message reads.

At the same time, not everyone in Lviv adheres to the retrenchment of electricity use.

«In the evening, when you drive through the streets, you’ll see the shop windows lit up. On the street Hrushevskoho, store shines brightly until the morning, and this continues while we save money...» – Lviv resident Olena Krasutska from Lviv wrote us.

Basic advice from energy experts: turn on heaters, washing machines, dishwashers and boilers at night. Then, the load on the network is the least. The following appliances are the most energy-consuming: electric heaters, boilers, electric stoves, microwave ovens, washing machines, electric ovens, electric kettles (coffee makers), irons, dishwashers, air conditioners, chargers, vacuum cleaners, computers, TVs.

Let us add that yesterday, October 10, in the morning, the Russians launched a massive missile attack on the territory of Ukraine. At 07:27, an air alert began, lasting until 12:30. Explosions at critical infrastructure facilities were recorded in the Lviv region and Lviv. A total of 15 missiles attacked the Lviv region. Due to the shelling of electrical substations, there was no electricity and water supply in most of the city of Lviv and partly in the region. More than 80% of the traffic lights were not working. In Lviv, there were also reports of no hot water supply and difficulties with cellular communication. Street lights and loudspeakers were turned off in the city. In particular, in Sykhiv, part of Lychakivskyi and Halytskyi districts.

On October 11, the Russian military launched a repeated missile attack on an energy facility. Three explosions at two energy facilities were reported in the Lviv region. As a result of the missile strike, 30% of Lviv was left temporarily without electricity. There are also water supply interruptions in the Sykhiv and Frankivskyi districts of the city. The mayor asked the townspeople to make small reserves of water. It is also known about the victim as a result of shelling in Lviv.

As of the morning of October 12, the electricity supply was restored to all settlements in the region.
