Don’t emphasise the «peculiarity» of Crimea. Luhansk and Donetsk are no different

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba, stated that Crimea shouldn’t be singled out in the issue of the liberation of temporarily occupied Ukrainian territories, as it is no different from other regions of the country. He told this in an interview with the Spanish publication Cadena SER, Liga.net reports.

According to the official, the absolute acceptable minimum for Ukraine, in the context of ending the war, is the complete withdrawal of Russian troops out of the borders of Ukraine recognised in 1991. Following this, there is no need to emphasise Crimea, since the peninsula is no different from the occupied Luhansk or Donetsk.

«This is only a part of Ukraine. When journalists emphasize the phrase «including Crimea», they create the impression that Crimea is something really special that needs to be treated differently. But it shouldn’t be like that, because it’s just another part of the territory of Ukraine,» – said Dmytro Kuleba.

He added that now, Donetsk and Luhansk have been annexed, and later – some territories in the Zaporizhia region and some districts. Nevertheless, the legal significance of this annexation is the same as the annexation of Crimea. It is equal to zero, so should be treated in the same way.

We will remind you that Dmytro Kuleba stated that Russia’s deliberate attacks on the energy system of Ukraine, which caused the deterioration of the humanitarian situation throughout the country, should be considered as a component of the genocide of the Ukrainian people.
