On April 2, a presentation of Kateryna Moskalyuk's photo exhibition "Naodyntsi” (Alone) took place in Lviv in the Powder Tower. It’s dedicated to the wives of the Ukrainian heroes who died in the war.

"The project is called "Alone" because, despite the support of relatives or friends, the darling is no longer around. Odesa, Lviv, Kyiv, Kharkiv, Dnipro - the pain has no specific location, it is simply unbearable. Women talked about their favourite places where they liked to spend time with their husbands, showed things that remind them of their loved ones and how they try to live on. My photo project is about women whose husbands chose not their lives, but ours and yours..." - the photographer wrote on her Facebook.

Photographer Kateryna Moskalyuk spent time with five women from different parts of Ukraine and recorded their lives after the loss.

The following women participated in the project:

  • Eva Fialka from Lviv lost her husband Dmytro Fialka in September 2022.
  • Ksenia Biryukova from Kharkiv lost her husband Mykhailo Mitusov in August 2022.
  • Angelina Popsuy from Dnipro lost her husband Oleksandr Popsuy in October 2022.
  • Indira Baranetska from Odesa lost her husband Vyacheslav Baranetskyi in September 2022.
  • Maria Onyshchenko from Kyiv lost her husband Andrii Onyshchenko in July 2022.

The display of the photo exhibition was initiated by the memory platform Memorial. The project team collects data on civilians and soldiers killed in the war and does everything to preserve the memory of every person whose life was taken by the Russian military.
