Today, March 22nd, "Sunday for Marchyk" continues in Lviv – a day of joint prayer and assistance for 4-year-old Lviv resident Marko Hladysh. This was reported by the manager of the Lviv City Council executive committee, Yevhen Boiko.

"Sometimes a whole city can save a child."

In the city's churches and religious communities, people will pray for Marko's health and collect donations for his treatment," — Boiko wrote.

He added that Marko lives with a rare genetic disease, Duchenne muscular dystrophy. The only chance to stop the progression of the illness is expensive gene therapy. The fundraising for the treatment has been ongoing for over a year and a half. Most of the funds have been raised, but about 18% of the required amount is still needed.

Marchyk's family are parishioners of the Garrison Church of Sts. Peter and Paul.

According to Boiko, the city reached out to all religious communities in Lviv—Christian, Jewish, Muslim, and Protestant—with a request to support the collection of the necessary funds for treatment.

As a reminder, in February, a charity concert was held at the Dovzhenko Center in Lviv in honor of Marko's fourth birthday. During the event, they managed to raise over 2.7 million UAH for his life-saving treatment.
