On Monday, March 23, Lviv will bid farewell to servicemen Volodymyr Borushchak and Serhii Remez, who gave their lives defending Ukraine from Russian occupiers. This was reported by the Lviv City Council.
The funeral service for Volodymyr Borushchak and Serhii Remez will begin at 11:00 AM at the Garrison Church of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul. Afterwards, at approximately 11:30 AM, there will be a city-wide farewell ceremony at Rynok Square.
Volodymyr Borushchak will be buried at the cemetery in the village of Riasne-Ruske, and Serhii Remez will be buried at the Holoskivske Cemetery (field 34-V).
What is known about the Defenders
Volodymyr Borushchak (07.09.1977 — 03.11.2024). A native of the village of Riasne-Ruske, Lviv region.

He studied at the Riasne-Ruske Lyceum of the Lviv City Council. Later, he obtained the profession of a carpenter at the Lviv Professional College of Applied Arts and Design.
He completed his mandatory military service.
He worked as a carpenter at private enterprises and in the construction sector.
According to his relatives, Volodymyr loved football, mushroom picking, fishing, cooking, and active recreation. He was kind, sociable, responsive, and responsible, and had many friends.
In 2024, he stood up to defend the Motherland from the invasion of Russian occupiers. He defended the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine in the Kursk direction as part of the 95th Separate Air Assault Polissya Brigade of the Air Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Volodymyr Borushchak is survived by his mother, sister, brother with their families, and relatives.
Serhii Remez (19.10.1971 — 20.03.2026). A Lviv resident.

He studied at secondary school No. 54 in Lviv.
He completed his mandatory military service.
He worked at the Limited Liability Company "Ekobudinvest."
According to his relatives, Serhii was fond of automotive machinery and was characterized by his responsibility, prudence, and realistic outlook on life.
In 2023, he stood up to defend the Motherland from the invasion of Russian occupiers. He defended the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine in the Southern Slobozhanshchyna, Donetsk, and Luhansk directions as part of the 68th Separate Jager Brigade named after Oleksa Dovbush of the Air Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Serhii Remez is survived by friends and brothers-in-arms.
