Events taking place in Lviv for City Day. Program for Friday-Sunday
Various thematic events have been prepared for residents and guests of the city: sports marathons, a quiz in the Town Hall courtyard, public lectures and excursions, chamber concerts.

Lviv will soon celebrate its 770th birthday. The program includes a musical gift — an open-air concert by the band "Odyn v kanoe". This was reported by the Lviv City Council press service.

On the occasion of City Day, a fundraiser for the Armed Forces will take place, organized by the "Come Back Alive" Foundation together with the Lviv youth organization "Tvory".

May 1, Friday

At 14:00 at Rynok Square, 1, there will be an award ceremony with the "Honorary Sign of Saint George" (posthumously) of Lviv's Defenders of Ukraine.

For City Day in Lviv on Friday a special postage stamp will be presented and cancelled.

After that, it can be purchased at all tourist information centers in the city. The identity for the city's 770th anniversary was created by Serhiy Maidukov, an illustrator known not only in Ukraine but also worldwide. It can already be seen on visual materials, as well as on souvenir products and official merch for the 770th anniversary, including coffee, honey, and "King Danylo's tea".

At 13:00 and 16:00 — excursion "Kastelivka: garden city and the architecture of ideas".

The event is dedicated to the urban experiment of the Kastelivka district. The guide is Olena Dvorkina.

Also, in Friday's program, a musical surprise awaits residents and guests of the city — a concert by the Lviv-based band "Odyn v kanoe".

May 2, Saturday

10:00–13:00 — excursion "Lviv, which needs to be read: symbols, details, and silence of the Lychakiv suburb".

12:00–18:00 — family events "Space of 770 Encounters"

On the square in front of the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, a rich program will be prepared for children and adults: workshops, including architectural ones, face painting, as well as performances by creative groups. Guests will be entertained by the "Cheremosh" song and dance ensemble of Franko University and the "Lviv Fanfares" brass band.

13:00 — solemn ceremony of bringing out the flags.

Traditionally, a solemn ceremony of carrying out the flags of Ukraine's military and defense structures will take place on Rynok Square. In this way, the city will once again remind everyone of the feats of Ukrainian combat units.

13:00–15:00 — "Lviv Half Marathon" race

During this time, children's races for 100 and 500 meters will take place along the route: 28 Svobody Ave. — Svobody Ave. (U-turn at the intersection of Akademika V. Hnatyuka St. and Svobody Ave.) — Svobody Ave. — 28 Svobody Ave.).

15:30–18:30 — special quiz about the history of Lviv from the Youth Capital Office of the Lviv City Council.

The event will take place in the courtyard of the City Hall and will be an opportunity for Lviv residents and guests of the city to test their knowledge of Lviv in a light, dynamic format. Participants will have the chance to learn more about prominent Lviv residents, iconic events, cultural features, and little-known facts about the city.

Teams of friends, families, and all interested parties are invited to participate — regardless of their level of preparation.

Participation in the quiz is possible subject to prior registration.

19:00–21:00 — performances by groups "Blues Tonalities of Lviv" in the rotunda of Franko Park.

Jazz groups will perform for the city's guests, namely: Leonid Petkun with "Jazz Bend" and Oleksandr Osadchyi with the group "Blues Band". Entry to the event is free.

May 3, Sunday

8:00–14:00 — second day of the sports event — "Lviv Half Marathon"

Sports races will continue in the city on Sunday. Experienced runners are invited to participate in a 21 km half marathon, a 10 km distance is provided for those who train regularly, beginners and amateurs can test themselves over a 5 km distance, and a symbolic 1 km race is available for novices.

The routes will pass through the central streets of the city: via Svobody Avenue, then along Lypynskoho St., covering the Promyslova St. area, passing near Bohdana Khmelnytskoho St., and descending towards Soborna Square.

Details about the race and changes in traffic will be announced later.

In addition, during the first half of the day, there will be charity school fairs. Concert programs, sports attractions, and workshops with fundraising for the Armed Forces of Ukraine will also be organized there.

Fairs will be held in 22 schools in the city, namely: Lyceum No. 18, School No. 90, School No. 65, School No. 97, Lyceum No. 2, Lyceum No. 45, Lyceum No. 6, Lyceum No. 80, School No. 86, "Oriiana" Lyceum, School No. 92, School No. 77, "Berehynia" School, School No. 62, School No. 23, School No. 87, School No. 42, "Leader" School, Lyceum No. 57, Lviv Law Gymnasium, Dublyany Support Lyceum, School No. 55.

13:00 — excursion "Lviv of the Austrian Era: A City of Culture, Politics, and Great Ambitions"

This excursion unveils Lviv during the period of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. A time when the city was rapidly developing, shaping its modern identity.

Registration for the event is available on the website lviv.travel from April 27.

14:00–15:00 — interfaith prayer for the city at the Garrison Church with the participation of representatives from various denominations.

The event will be attended by representatives of various religious denominations — Greek Catholic and Roman Catholic churches, Orthodox churches, Protestant communities, as well as Jewish and Muslim communities.

18:00 — open discussion "Lviv as a City Where Experiences That Should Not Have Met, Meet".

Registration for the event is open from April 27; follow updates on the Facebook page of the Lviv City Council's Culture Department.

20:00–21:00 — "How We Built Our Homes?": a poetic and theatrical performance by the "Khvylia" art association

The theatrical performance will take place on the north side of Rynok Square. The performance will be based on contemporary Lviv poetry. The event is open to everyone.

Ongoing events

From April 4 to May 8, the City Museum at 1 Rynok Square is hosting the photo exhibition "Khartia: Heat. 11 Perspectives on War".

The exhibition can be visited Monday through Thursday from 17:15 to 21:00, Friday from 16:00 to 21:00, and on weekends from 10:00 to 21:00.

The exhibition features about 40 works by Ukrainian photographers and military personnel created during combat operations in 2025.
