A new stage of the "New Ukrainian School" reform is starting in Ukraine – the approach to high school is changing. Students will attend school for 12 years, and students will choose their profile themselves. But is the system ready for this and how will it work in each school?
To understand how these global changes will be implemented in practice, the "Experts Club” of Your City initiates an open professional discussion "High School Reform: What Should Parents and Teachers Prepare For, and What Will Change for Students?".
We have gathered experts who are at the forefront of the reform at all levels:
Ihor Khvorostian - Head of the NUS Implementation Office at the Ministry of Education and Science. He will explain the Ministry's strategy and where the country's education system is actually headed.
Andriy Zakalyuk - Head of the Lviv Education Department. A specialist responsible for the practical implementation of the reform at the local level. He will talk about the challenges, successes, and the actual state of affairs in Lviv schools.
Paul Pschenichka - a legendary teacher, the best physics teacher (Global Teacher Prize Ukraine), after whom an asteroid is named. A person who has proven that a teacher is a key figure capable of changing the future of students and the education system as a whole.
Key discussion points:
- New high school model: are teachers and students ready to choose an educational path in a year?
- How will the reform be implemented locally?
- From knowledge to thinking: will the assessment and teaching system change so that the priority becomes the ability to analyze, not just reproduce information?
- The role of the educator in the new system: why will the reform not work without teacher autonomy and support for values?
The discussion includes time for questions from the audience. This is your chance to hear answers to difficult questions from those who directly make decisions.
