In Lviv, together with the Mariupol City Military Administration, an architectural competition was announced for a new construction project of apartment buildings on Velychkovskoho St., in Ryasne-2. The corresponding decision was made at the latest meeting of the Lviv City Council executive committee.
“According to the memorandum signed earlier, it is planned to provide social housing for IDPs, in particular from the Mariupol community, as well as the military, veterans, medical workers, etc.,” — said Anton Kolomeytsev, the chief architect of Lviv.
Up to fifty percent of the created apartments will be designated for displaced persons from the Mariupol community. The other part of the housing stock, owned by the Lviv community, will cover the housing needs of socially vulnerable local categories. Among them are military personnel, war veterans, medical workers, persons with disabilities resulting from the war, orphans, and family members of fallen Defenders of Ukraine.
The competition design area is located in the Ryasne-2 residential district on I. Velychkovskoho St. and covers approximately 0.99 hectares of total area.
Competition schedule:
- March 27, 2026 — announcement of the competition;
- April 17, 2026, until 5:00 PM — deadline for registration to participate in the competition;
- June 29, 2026, until 5:00 PM — deadline for submission of competition projects in digital and printed form;
- July 01 – 12, 2026 — preparation and holding of the jury meeting, determining the competition winners.
Three prizes are defined for the competition: 1) first prize (first place, winner) — UAH 250,000; 2) second prize (second place) — UAH 200,000; 3) third prize (third place) — UAH 150,000.

- Vasyl SENKIV — architect, deputy chairman of the board of Lviv Branch of the National Union of Architects of Ukraine (LOO NSAU), serviceman of the AFU, delegated representative of LOO NSAU.
As a reminder, The mayors of Lviv and Mariupol signed a Memorandum of Cooperation on housing construction in February 2026. The Lviv City Council noted that the city would allocate land for construction free of charge, and the housing would be partially built using funds from international partners. At the same time, the city council said that construction would be carried out using funds from the Mariupol City Military Administration, while the Lviv City Council would take on the arrangement of utility networks and landscaping of the territory.
The press service did not specify the amounts involved.
By the way, together with international partners, the first social housing for residents of Mariupol was built in Dnipro, where 200 families already live. Within the framework of the "My Home – Ukraine" initiative, two locations were chosen for the construction of social housing for Mariupol residents – the Kyiv and Lviv regions.
