During a meeting in Warsaw with the head of the Polish MFA, Radosław Sikorski, Ukrainian Minister of Foreign Affairs Andriy Sybiha proposed an anti-crisis package of steps to the Polish side to overcome historical disputes between the two states. The head of Ukrainian diplomacy announced this on X
During the meeting, the head of Ukrainian diplomacy proposed an "anti-crisis package of steps" which includes:
- consultations between the ministries of foreign affairs;
- a meeting of historians who participated in the Polish-Ukrainian Congress in May;
- involving religious leaders of both countries in the dialogue.
Andriy Sybiha noted that over the past year and a half, Ukraine and Poland have managed to achieve significant progress in resolving sensitive historical issues. In particular, the parties unblocked exhumations and resumed the work of the Congress of Historians. He assured that Ukraine will continue to issue permits for search and exhumation works.
The head of the MFA also emphasized that the name of one of the Ukrainian military units, which caused discussions in Poland, had no anti-Polish subtext.

The meeting also discussed prospects for military-technical cooperation, issues regarding the NATO summit in Ankara, cooperation between Ukrainian and Polish companies in projects for the reconstruction of Ukraine, acceleration of customs procedures for citizens and businesses, and the development of border infrastructure.
The minister separately thanked the Polish authorities for their quick response to cases of xenophobia against Ukrainians that occurred in Poland.
We remind you that earlier "Tvoe Misto" wrote that during his visit to Poland, Sybiha proposed including Marko Bezručko – a general of the army of the Ukrainian People's Republic (UNR) – in the future Pantheon.
This is a compromise, as Bezručko is a symbol of the joint Ukrainian-Polish struggle against the Bolsheviks. In 1920, together with Polish forces, he liberated Kyiv and successfully defended Zamość from Soviet troops. Read more here.
