In the Polish city of Lódz, police are looking for a man who beat a local resident. The attacker attacked the man because he mistakenly believed him to be a citizen of Ukraine. The victim sustained serious head and facial injuries. This is reported by reported the Polish website RMF24.
The incident occurred on July 11 around 2:00 PM in the Stary Widzew district, on Piłsudskiego Avenue (between Przędzalniana Street and Śmigłego-Rydza Avenue).
As reported by Maksymilian Jasiak, spokesperson for the Lódz Municipal Police Headquarters, the victim is a resident of Lódz (a Pole) - at the time of the attack, he was walking down the street and talking on the phone.
The attacker hit the passerby on the head twice, considering him to be Ukrainian. As a result of the severe blows, the victim suffered severe injuries: a broken jaw, a broken nose, and numerous head injuries.
The man was urgently hospitalized. The next day after the incident, he filed a crime report at the Łódź-Widzew police station.
The Łódź police have already seized and are analyzing the recordings from the video surveillance cameras installed near the scene.
Law enforcement officers are appealing to all possible witnesses of the incident to assist the investigation. They ask for information to be reported to the Lodz-Widzew police station.
