A monument to Lesya Ukrainka has appeared in Spain. Where exactly
The monument appeared on Lesya Ukrainka Square, where the Embassy of Ukraine in Spain is located. It was erected on the occasion of the 155th anniversary of the writer's birth.

A monument to the Ukrainian writer Lesya Ukrainka has been erected in the Spanish capital, Madrid. This is reported by Diaspora.ua.

The monument was erected on a square named after Lesya Ukrainka, which also houses the Embassy of Ukraine in Spain. The appearance of the monument was timed to the 155th anniversary of the writer's birth, which is celebrated in 2026.

The author of the sculpture is the Honored Artist of Ukraine Mykola Obeziuk.

The idea to erect a monument to Lesya Ukrainka in Madrid arose back in 2018. Later, thanks to the joint work of the Embassy of Ukraine in Spain and the Ukrainian diaspora, in 2020, the Madrid City Hall decided to name one of the city's squares after the Ukrainian writer.

The Ukrainian Association for Foreign Policy and the Embassy of Ukraine in Spain took over the coordination of the project's implementation.
