In Kyiv, a Russian drone hit a book warehouse: print runs of Readeat, Book.ua, Vivat, and other publishers burned.

As a result of the strike, part of the print runs burned.

In Kyiv, as a result of a Russian attack on August 27, an enemy drone hit a warehouse where books from Readeat, Book.ua, and a number of Ukrainian publishers were stored. This was reported by the founder of Readeat Dmytro Felyksov, the general director of Vivat publishing house Yulia Orlova, as well as representatives of Uroboros and Osnovy publishing houses.

According to Readeat founder Dmytro Felyksov, due to damage to the warehouse, order shipments will not be made from it on August 28.

Ukrainian publishers also reported the loss of books:

Uroboros: the publishing house wrotethat their books, which were in the warehouses of Readeat and Book.ua partners, were likely destroyed.
Osnovy: stated losses of book print runs and clarified that they are awaiting official information on the scale of the damage. At the same time, the publishing house continues to ship orders from a backup warehouse in another region.
Vivat: Vivat General Director Yulia Orlova reported that the Kyiv warehouse where their books were stored burned down, adding that the exact scale of losses is still being calculated.

"In this lottery of where it will land tonight, we lost. Therefore, today the warehouse in Kyiv, where Vivat's books were also stored, burned down."Yulia Orlova wrote.

She noted that the publishing house had previously begun moving part of its print runs to other regions (particularly to Lviv and between bookstores), but many new releases and books by Ukrainian authors remained in the Kyiv warehouses. Since the publishing house was preparing for the "Book Country" festival, Vivat's participation in the event is now in question.

"We are still calculating the losses, because effectively, books burned in three warehouses: ours and our partners'", Orlova reported.

The day before, КСД and Knigoland publishing houses canceled their participation in the autumn "Book Country" exhibition, which will take place from September 17 to 20. КСД explained this decision by the security situation in the capital, canceling not only trade stands but also events with authors and readers. Knigoland publishing house announced its withdrawal two weeks ago due to the loss of a large number of books as a result of Russian shelling.

Earlier, on August 1, the warehouses of the Ranok publishing house in Kharkiv were destroyed, affecting Readberry, Zhorzh, Fabula, Shche odna storinka, Varvar Publishing, Osnova, Svoe, Korali Books, Kanguru, 4mamas publishing houses, and the Knigoland bookstore chain. In total, almost 8 million copies of books were destroyed – 28,800 titles.

Additionally, as a result of the Russian attack on Kyiv on August 16, the RM and BookChef publishing houses were affected in Pochaina.
