Elon Musk plans to build a Starlink ground station in Ukraine after the war to improve the quality of satellite Internet in our cities. This was reported by the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine.
Today, the Ministry monitors the availability and quality of the Internet in different regions of Ukraine with the help of the company «Speedtest by Ookla», which provided its access to real-time speedtest data from the resource speedtest.net. During the war, such information helps to respond quickly to communication problems.

Through Ookla, the data on Internet quality indicators from Starlink is also received.
«As they indicate, it is clear that the quality of the Internet from Starlink in Eastern Ukraine is worse than in the West. This can be explained by the fact that Ukraine does not have its own Starlink ground station. The nearest stations are in Poland, Lithuania and Turkey,» – the Ministry of Digital Transformation added.
It will be recalled that the first batch of Starlink satellite stations from Elon Musk arrived in Ukraine on February 28. The Starlink project was created by Musk’s SpaceX company. This satellite system allows accessing the Internet in hard-to-reach corners of the Earth. Starlink does not depend on traditional Internet infrastructure, so it cannot be easily disabled. It is more resistant to cyberattacks, so Ukraine needs it during the war.

Earlier, the head of the Ministry of Digital Transformation drew Elon Musk’s attention to the war in Ukraine and Russian aggression and called for giving Ukraine the opportunity to use the Starlink satellite Internet.
After that, the billionaire, founder of «SpaceX», «PayPal», «Neuralink» and «The Boring Company», CEO of «Tesla Inc.», Elon Musk expressed support for Ukraine. «Hold Strong Ukraine,» he wrote on Twitter.
