In the Chernihiv region, units of the North Operational Command defeated the enemy’s forces on March 5, and once again prevented them from advancing towards the capital.

«Russian equipment burned and disabled, the occupiers fled. However, this will not save them: Russian enemy soldiers have no food, fuel, they are demoralized and ready to surrender. Instead, Ukrainian defenders are confidently holding the line of defence, ready to defend the region, the state and its people,» – the statement reads.

Also, Ukrainian defenders managed to recapture Mykolaiv, the occupier was driven out of the city and Ukrainian soldiers took a lot of trophy equipment. In the Mykolaiv area, the Ukrainian military brought down four helicopters of the enemy, in particular, one of the Marines brought down 3 units at once.

On the outskirts of Brovary, near the village of Peremoha in the Kyiv region, the defenders of Ukraine launched an airstrike on 15 separate motorized infantry brigades of the Central Military District of the Russian occupiers. In addition, the Armed Forces of Ukraine liquidated the commander of the 247th Guards Assault Regiment of the Southern Military District of the Russian Armed Forces, Colonel Konstantin Zizevsky.

Also, the Ukrainian Army shot down 2 planes of the Russian occupiers, 3 pilots were captured, and one was destroyed. 

At the same time, on March 5, the enemy launched an airstrike on Bila Tserkva, damaging more than 20 residential buildings. In Irpin, the bombing damaged a railway track and disrupted a train used to evacuate civilians. Heavy shelling of Mariupol and Kharkiv continues.
