9 November: Day of Ukrainian Writing and Language. Lviv residents took part in all-Ukrainian radio dictation
The dictation is reading a sample of text aloud when the listeners have to spell it in the right way. Annually on this day, a well-known Ukrainian cultural figure reads a short text on the radio, challenging listeners to submit a transcription with perfect spelling.

Today,9 November, Ukraine celebrates the Day of Ukrainian Writing and Language. Traditionally, anyone could join in writing a short radio dictation of national unity which started today at 10.00. This was reported by Ukrainian Radio.

The author of the text and the reader of this year’s Radio Dictation was the cult Ukrainian writer Yuriy Andrukhovych.

Participants have 24 hours to send the finished text. The text of the dictation will be published on the website of Ukrainian Radio 11 November at 11:00. Entries will be accepted online and offline.

Works written without errors will receive gifts from project partners. The results will be announced within one or two months, depending on the number of letters received.

The radio dictation was broadcast on TV channels and digital platforms of the national madia Suspilne (Public): UA: PERSHYI (UA: FIRST), regional public broadcasters, the YouTube channel of UA: PERSHYI and on the Facebook pages of Suspile Broadcasting, UA: PERSHYI and regional branches of the Suspilne.

Traditionally, Radio Dictation was also broadcast throughout the country on Ukrainian Radio and Radio Kultura (Radio Culture), also on the YouTube channel and Facebook pages of Ukrainian Radio and Radio Kultura. You can also join the Facebook event «XXI Radio Dictation of National Unity».

We will add that Khrystyna Hoyaniuk from the Lviv region became the winner of the 20th dictation on the Ukrainian language last year. Among 16,000 participants, she was the only one who did not make a single mistake.
