At the Kyiv children's hospital "Okhmatdyt," medical staff held a "corridor of honor" for 13-year-old Ivan, who became a posthumous donor and saved the lives of four other patients. This was reported by the National Children's Specialized Hospital.

The teenager was admitted to the hospital with a severe traumatic brain injury. Medics fought for his life, but the boy was later diagnosed with brain death. Following this, Ivan's parents agreed to posthumous organ donation.

The boy's mother said that the thought of donation was one of the first to arise when it became clear that it was no longer possible to save her son.

"I feel like it was his choice... Ivan was always very kind and generous. He is a warrior of light, a warrior of good"– said the teenager's mother, Oksana.

According to her, Ivan was very kind and generous, so she believes this decision would have aligned with his character and desire to help others.

Thanks to posthumous donation, four patients on the transplant waiting list received Ivan's organs. The hospital noted that posthumous donation is a difficult but extremely important decision that allows others' lives to be saved even in a moment of great loss. Medics held a "corridor of honor" for the boy as a sign of respect and gratitude to the family.

As a reminder, similar cases have occurred in Ukraine before—specifically, in 2024, a 13-year-old teenager became a posthumous donor for five people.
