On the night of March 21, the heart of the 16-year-old Kyiv resident, who suffered critical burns as a result of a heating network burst in the Holosiivskyi district, stopped. This was reported by her mother in a comment to Novyny.LIVE, writes UP.

Following the incident that occurred at the beginning of the year, the injured girl was evacuated to a hospital in the city of Cologne. Germany took upon itself all the costs of her treatment. The patient's condition remained stable but severe for a long time — she was in a coma. During her stay at the clinic, the girl underwent nine surgical interventions and had 25% of her skin grafted, however, the teenager's life could not be saved.

The tragedy occurred on January 3 on Lobanovsky Avenue. As a result of a hot water pipe burst, a pit formed, which, according to available data, was not properly fenced. The 16-year-old girl fell into the pit of boiling water, suffering burns to 73% of her body.

In connection with the incident, law enforcement officers opened criminal proceedings under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:

  • Part 2 of Art. 367 — official negligence;
  • Part 2 of Art. 272 — violation of safety rules during the performance of high-risk work.

As part of the investigation, police officers detained an official of the Kyivteploenergo municipal enterprise, who has already been served with a notice of suspicion.

Currently, the Kyiv police are continuing the pre-trial investigation to identify all those responsible for the improper maintenance of heating networks and ensuring safety at the accident site. The death of the victim may affect the further legal classification of the actions of the responsible individuals.
