In Kyiv, there are plans to restore the postal station building and create a postal history museum there along with a public space. Currently, the site has already been cleared of unauthorized users and is being prepared for the next stage of work. This was reported by Maryna Solovyova, Director of the Department for the Protection of Cultural Heritage of the Kyiv City State Administration, in an interview with "Tvoiemu Mistu".

According to her, the above-ground building is municipal property and is on the balance sheet of the Kyiv Scientific and Methodological Center.

After the inventory, it turned out that the site was in a state of neglect, and part of the premises had been occupied by unauthorized persons.

"The Department demanded the premises be vacated. This took some time, but eventually the situation was resolved," notes Solovyova.

The next stage is preparation for restoration.

"For this, it is necessary to develop scientific and design documentation. This is a complex process that can take up to a year," she explains.

  • a public space for residents and tourists.

As the department explains, the underground museum is an archaeological monument of national significance and is state-owned.

"To resolve the situation, a working group has been created with the participation of representatives of the Ministry of Culture, the Kyiv City State Administration, archaeologists and scientists," says Solovyova.

Among the options currently being discussed:

  • creating a branch of one of the state museums;
  • ensuring stable funding for the maintenance and development of the site.
"This would allow for a systemic solution to the issue of preserving the underground part," she adds.
