As a result of the Russian attack on Kyiv on the night of July 2, the central warehouse of Denka Logistics, the logistics partner of BookChef publishing house, was destroyed. Due to this, the enterprise lost most of its products - approximately 800,000 copies of books. This was reported by the BookChef press service.
The publishing house noted that no company employees were injured as a result of the enemy strike, but the material damage is significant.
Due to the loss of warehouse premises and finished products, the publishing house is forced to temporarily suspend all joint promotions with its partner stores. The restrictions will be in effect until the volume of reprints of new editions stabilizes.
As reported by BookChef CEO Oleksandr Kirpichov, the company is also temporarily unable to fully ensure its operational activities.
BookChef thanked for the support and urged readers to help the company during this period by purchasing its books that are available on the market.
Massive attack on Kyiv and destruction of civilian objects
The destruction of the logistics complex occurred during another combined attack on the capital on the night of July 2. The Russian army launched attack drones, cruise missiles, and ballistic missiles at the city. Destruction and falling debris were recorded in all districts of Kyiv. In total, more than 20 residential buildings and infrastructure facilities were damaged in the city as a result of the shelling.
As a result of the night strikes in Kyiv, a historic building, erected in 1901 according to the project of architect Iosif Zektser on behalf of lawyer Hryhoriy Bogrov (now it houses the CityHotel Residence hotel), was damaged. Also, the apartment of the deputy director for cultural projects and communications of the Kyiv Cultural Cluster and director of the Lyra cinema, Iryna Plekhova, and director and screenwriter Oleh Chornyi, burned down completely. In addition, apartments of director Iryna Tsylik, member of the supervisory board of Public Broadcasting Vadym Miskyi, and singer Laud were damaged.
Due to the large number of casualties and the scale of destruction, July 3 has been declared a Day of Mourning in Kyiv.
