Together with his father and friends, the young man cleared the ruins on his own, trying to save a woman trapped under concrete slabs and a cloud of acrid smoke. This was reported by the publication "hromadske".

Ivan lives near the site of the tragedy, so after a series of powerful explosions, he immediately ran outside to make sure his friends were okay. Seeing the scale of the destruction and a small group of rescuers already working on the spot, the young man decided to join them.

According to him, at that moment fear completely vanished, giving way to the desire to help the affected residents of the high-rise building.

Together with a State Emergency Service worker, the young man heard a woman's cry from under the rubble and began digging a passage to her.

The work was extremely difficult — a massive slab stood in the way, and the air around was oversaturated with smoke from a fire that broke out nearby.

Ivan recalls: "The woman was screaming very terribly, begging for help. We dug a small hole, went down into it and started, just like dogs, digging out small debris. We cleared her right leg, then the left one."

At the height of the search, the young man felt strong emotional shock due to the victim's screams and the difficult working conditions, but he continued to dig until professional rescuers took his place. Thanks to joint efforts, the woman was successfully extricated and pulled out alive from under the ruins.

She is currently under medical supervision, while the search operation at the building site continues — rescuers are still trying to find her husband and child.

As a reminder, the Russian Federation attacked Kyiv on the night of May 14, using a combined strike of drones and missiles.

In addition to the hit on the residential sector, the city's energy infrastructure sustained significant damage. In particular, DTEK confirmed a hit on a transformer substation and a high-voltage line, which led to power supply problems.

The industrial site of an enterprise was also affected, with special equipment and almost 30 vehicles damaged. In the Darnytskyi district, the shockwave damaged the administrative building of the migration service, but the agency continues to operate.

The consequences of the enemy shelling are felt throughout the country — energy workers report power outages in 11 regions and the capital. In addition to the destruction from the shelling, the state of the networks is affected by bad weather.

Ukrenergo specialists note that consumption levels have currently decreased slightly thanks to sunny weather, which promotes the operation of domestic solar power plants. However, residents of the capital are strongly urged to shift the use of high-power electrical appliances to daylight hours — from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM — to reduce the load on the damaged power system during the evening peak.

According to updated data, the death toll from the Russian strike on Kyiv has increased to 12 people, including 2 children. Search and rescue operations in the Darnytskyi district continue round the clock. Psychologists and 3 canine units of the State Emergency Service are working on the spot. In total, 170 rescuers and 51 units of special equipment are involved in the cleanup.
